Freeware is software that does not have to be bought. (This describes many different software licenses.) Some freeware also has source code available. As freeware is available without charge, if you see freeware you would like installed on a computer, just ask. Freeware listed here may already be installed.

There are many free software packages not listed here. You can find some on repositories such as http://freshmeat.net Note that lists in this wiki are intended to be a list of software supported here, not a complete list of all software.
