A computer algebra system or symbolic computation system is a system of software packages that facilitates symbolic mathematics.

Availablility

CECS has the following packages on a limited number of computers:

• Matlab
• Mathcad
• Mathematica (not generally available)
• Maxima (free, ask to get it installed)
• freemat (free, ask to get it installed)
