Educational license[edit]
installing in windows[edit]
- install ugsbundle.reg to preselect bundle licenses (This can be user selected later within the software, but does not save.)
- Launch.exe
- Install NX
- Typical install (unless doing minimum install)
- LICENSING: 28000@burke.mmae.ucf.edu
- Install docs in dvdrom_ugdoc075
Note: a reboot is required or a license error will occur. An alternative to rebooting is to edit and save (without making changes) the licensing environment variable.
installing in unsupported linux[edit]
Supported in SUSE. Should work in CentOS (not tried), may work with changes in Ubuntu (partial success).
- edit nx*/ug_install
- search for if clause containing "unsuported" and comment out "exit 1"\
- search for Linux in case statement, add correct setting for X11_DEFS_DIR
- ubuntu: /etc/X11/app-defaults
(not successful yet)
Installing on Mac OS X[edit]
Note that version 8.5 (or newer) is required for Lion (or newer). Older versions will not work, and Snow Leopard may require updates. This will not install from a network share.
Install these parts (in order):
- XQuartz-2.7.4.dmg
- openmotif-compat-2.1.32_IST.macosx10.5.dmg
- nx085.mpkg
Note: the last part comes from unpacking nx-mac-8.5.0.tar.gz (suggest: gzcat -c nx-mac-8.5.0.tar.gz | tar xf - )
During install of the last part, set the license server.
A reboot is required or the software will not start correctly (XQuartz won't start automatically until reboot).
User must select bundle licenses (File-->Utilities-->Select Bundles) on first run. Unlike windows, this option will be saved.
